Lorraine B. Schneider

Lorraine B. Schneider, 96, of Redfield, SD, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield.

Her funeral will be Monday, June 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Redfield. Reverend Peter M. Utecht will officiate.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield http://www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Lorraine was born March 15, 1918, in Rockham, SD to Walter and Lydia (Schultz) Huber. She lived at Rockham and then moved to Garden City, SD, with her family. She attended Teacher’s College in Wessington Springs, SD, and taught school near Rockham. She married Armin Schneider on October 26, 1941. Armin and Lorraine farmed near Rockham for many years. They attended Zion Lutheran Church at Rockham and Lorraine taught Sunday School for many years. In 1976 they moved to Redfield and attended Messiah Lutheran Church.

Lorraine enjoyed baking, gardening and word puzzles.

Loraine is survived by two sons, Alfred (Pam), Schneider of Hopewell, VA, and Donald Schneider (Barbara) of Onida, SD; one daughter, Helen (Curwood) Seefeldt of LaMoure, ND; and daughter-in-law, Penney Schneider of Brooklyn Park, MN and her twin brother, LuVerne Huber, White Care Center, White, SD, and brother, Charles (Mary) Huber, Tillamook, Oregon. She is also survived by grandson, Alan Joachim, Agar, SD; seven step grandchildren, 14 step great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Violet Schneider and several nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Armin, son, Carl, her parents, brother Gordon Huber, sisters Lucille Larson and Alta Sundquist.

Lorraine’s family would like Memorials to be directed to Messiah Lutheran LCMS or to Concordia Seminary.
